The Elephant Mother
$250.00Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. A family of elephants gather at a salt lick in Musiara Marsh. Elephants exude power and strength, yet can be incredibly gentle. There are perhaps 3,000 elephants in the Greater Mara, an area of 6,000 sq. km. There is a tremendous bond between members of each family - and neighboring families - and the males form loose bachelor herds once they reach adolescence, visiting the family herds from time to time with mature males dominating breeding opportunities. Angela’s image captures the incredible sense of presence and confidence that elephants exude. It fills us with respect every time we spend time with them.
